VSE Electronic Rigid Axle Steering

VSE Electronic Rigid Axle Steering

VSE Electronic Rigid Axle Steering is an electrohydraulic steering system for driven rigid axles. Even a driven axle with high axle load can be steered, through separate control of two hydraulic cylinders. The standard driven truck axle can be used for this.

Steering systems for trucks

THE SYSTEM

THE SYSTEM

The steering system is a retrofit solution for trucks with one steered axle, which must be the last axle. It makes even long trucks with heavy loads manoeuvrable. The steering system can steer up to 15 degrees and is suitable for applications up to 16 tonnes.

VSE Electronic Rigid Axle Steering is made up of hydraulic and electrical components, and this system uses an electrically driven pump. This system can only be used in combination with hydraulic suspension.

FEATURES

FEATURES

  • Larger wall thickness allows 4 tonnes of extra load capacity
  • Greatly improved manoeuvrability
  • Reduced tyre wear
  • Reduced fuel consumption
  • Less torquing, so less strain on chassis and suspension
  • Improved performance during off-road driving

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS

  • M(echanical) pump
  • For one axle up to 16 tonnes
  • Manifold block, accumulator, ECU and diagnostic display
  • Steering cylinder
  • Steering cylinders with integrated stroke sensor
  • Front angle sensor (mounted on steering housing, mounting on axle, mounting on chassis with lever arm)
  • Scope of delivery includes various wiring harnesses
  • Always in combination with hydraulic suspension

SAFETY

SAFETY

  • Steering is speed-dependent, with hydraulic axle locking from 45 km/h
  • In the event of a malfunction the system automatically centres the axles
  • The VSE steering system has no negative impact on the steering system for the front axle(s) in terms of required steering force, manoeuvrability or wheel deflection
  • The VSE steering system is speed-dependent: above a set speed the axle is locked in position to ensure maximum stability and safety
  • Unique safety concept based on the use of a dual-circuit cylinder design with active centring of the axle
